SKETCHING HOLIDAYS IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE AND SPAIN

After nearly 15 years organizing and escorting many trips to Europe - France, Spain and Italy, we have decided that the year 2008 will be the last year that we will be offering sketching holidays to these two countries - at least in the form we have done in the past. We have great plans afoot which I am sure you will find fascinating although at this early stage I cannot reveal what these plans will be. We will not be changing directions completely and anything we do will of course have a leaning towards art - but I can assure you whatever we do will be interesting, innovative and exciting!

As before, we have a trip to France scheduled for June 2008, staying at the same hotel which certainly proved to be very well situated for our needs being near to many of the places of interest providing painting scenes of great beauty. The hotel is very comfortable and in a calm setting with a pool in the centre of the buildings. We were so lucky to find such a nice locale.

For the second trip, we shall be going to Spain in September 2008. The area is called Cataluña and the village is on the coast of the northern Costa Brava. This area has long been the haunt of many famous artists and certainly loved by the discerning traveller. We shall be staying in a hotel right on the edge of the Mediterranean and visiting many paintable places nearby.

The hotels in both locations are great. The one in France is on two floors with balconies on the 2nd floor and a patio area for each room on the ground floor. The pool is in the centre and is a nice place to rest after a day visiting the truly lovely places in the area. The food is very good - we didn't have a duplication once in the whole trip! The hotel in Spain is right on the Mediterranean and is no distance at all to go for a swim. Meals in Spain are eaten later so we start our day later so we can fit in with their schedule. The breakfasts are definitely something to look forward to!

Both these trips are wonderful in their own way and for the painter and the non-painter alike there are truly beautiful places to visit and get a lasting impression of places not normally discovered.

The International Art Club, a business owned and operated by Michel and Marion DesRochers in Sooke, British Columbia, Canada, has now been in operation for nearly 15 years.

Although primarily focused on artists, the Club does not preclude non artists from coming too. If you appreciate beautiful scenery, good food and would like to experience a different culture and lifestyle, then these are the trips for you and who knows, you may be inspired to pick up a brush and start a whole new phase in your life!

Group holidays are now more and more popular as they allow you to travel alone with the added security of being with other like-minded people and we have found that many have made lasting friendships.

Please Email Us Here for full details of the trips stating your preference. Which ever choice you make you will not regret it.
